Not all Traffic Exchanges (TEs) are the same. Some like "Surf For Local Music" or SFLM for short set themselves apart from the rest.
Why? SFLM is one of a few that claim the right to being a theme based exchange. These TEs are focused on a particular theme or topic like music, photograghy, sports, etc. SFLM is of course music themed. The idea here is to narrow down the marketplace to focus on a particular interest so webmasters, hobbyists, professional and consumers have a place to adhere to and network with each other.
Some TE's are geographic focused as well. Again SFLM is such a site and it focuses on music sites that are authored by web masters in the New England area. That said, this TE does accept and US based site that meets it's policies.

The SFL traffic exchange has been removed from service however SFLM is very much alive! The Surf For Local Music fanzine has taken precedence and it has evolved. If you are a music fan you should check it out and become a member. This page will serve as a news feed for now.
